Head of China Tibetan Carpet Association expressed readiness for paving the way for a more deserved presentation of Persian carpet in China especially in the province of Shanghai.
In a meeting held at INCC with the presence of the centers' directors, head of Iran Carpet Museum and members of China Tibetan Carpet Association, the two parties stressed the importance of mutual cooperation based on cultural interactions.
Speaking at the meeting, head of INCC emphasized the long history, originality, wide variety and popularity of Persian carpet, adding: "Carpet can provide proper grounds for fostering cultural interactions and mutual familiarization."
Referring to the wide extent of carpet production all over Iran during the past centuries, Hamid Kargar noted: "Persian carpet is woven everywhere around the country including cities, villages and among tribes and nomads in a broad variety of patterns, designs and colors in a way that the art has become integrated with cultural traditions of Iranian tribes, conveying numerous cultural messages to the world."
He further highlighted the long presence of Persian carpet in Shanghai Carpet Expo, calling for avoiding discord especially by Indian and Pakistani participants, preventing the showcase of handicrafts and products other than carpets, increasing the number of foreign tradesmen and purchasers invited for the next round of the expo, offering proper customs facilities and accelerating the return of carpets while raising the level of safety.
Head of China Tibetan Carpet Association for his part highlighted the popularity of Persian handmade rugs in the world, calling for more cultural cooperation between the countries.
Wang Jingping also referred to the history of Tibetan carpet as well as the climatic, social and cultural conditions of Shanghai Province, offering a report of the association's activities in the field of handmade carpet.
The meeting ended by the parties signing an agreement for improving Shanghai Carpet Expo, cooperating in launching Iran Carpet Museum in China and holding a cultural-academic seminar to introduce Persian carpet in both countries.
